1.3 Sustainable Schools

1.3.1 School-Wide Behavior Changes

Beginning August 2016, fifth through eighth grade students began using Google classroom to submit work. Students also use DocHub to add answers to PDF worksheets. Both activities helps to reduce the need for copies.

Gently used uniform swap

FAA promotes a uniform swap at the beginning and middle of each school year. Gently used uniforms are available on request throughout the year. 
1.3.2 Systemic Partnership

Green School initiative is supported by the administration of the Frederick Seventh-day Adventist Church and the Education Department of the Chesapeake Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, and the Columbia Union Conference of Seventh-day Adventists. These three organizations are the governing bodies in our local parochial educational system.

The school replaced all lighting to facilitate energy saving LED light bulbs instead of fluorescent bulbs. December 2015

The school lunch program switched to paper plates and washable plate holders and trays instead of styrofoam. August 2017

School office and classroom teachers send all newsletters, flyers, and announcements home via e-mail and Class-Dojo to reduce paper waste.
